If you are interested in volunteering we can find a role for you!
Some immediate committee chair and co-chair needs are listed below. If you are interested in these positions or in other volunteer opportunities, please contact Cindy Newman at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hospitality Co-Chair - The Hospitality Committee provides delicious meals and snacks to the PRES staff during back to school and conference times. The meals are a combination of catered food and donations from PRES volunteers. The committee also provides special treats to recognize staff birthdays each month and bus driver/crossing guard appreciation day. Our fabulous committee chairperson of many years is looking for a partner to help plan and coordinate these events, and eventually take over when her youngest child graduates from PRES. This is a wonderful opportunity to work side-by-side with her and learn the ropes. Do you like to cook or plan catered events? Are you well organized? Are you looking for a way to express gratitude to the PRES staff? Then this may be the job for you!
Reflections® Co-Chair - Reflections® is the National PTA’s cornerstone arts program. It encourages students to explore their talents and express themselves. Each year, students are recognized for bringing a theme to life in six categories:
- Dance choreography
- Film production
- Musical composition
- Visual arts
This year’s theme is “What is Your Story?” We have a committee chair for Reflections but she can use some help, and this is her last year at PRES so we need someone to learn the role and take over next year. No artistic ability is required to be a c-chair! Much (not all) of the work can be done from home. The Reflections committee chair helps promote the program, coordinate the collection of entries, recruits judges, submits winning artwork to the county, and recognizes the participants and the winners for their efforts. Winning entries are due to the county in early January so the majority of the work for this committee is done in the first four months of the school year.
WATCH D.O.G.S. ® Committee Chairs – WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is an innovative father involvement, educational initiative of the National Center for Fathering. The goals of the program are to 1) provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important and 2) provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying. We brought this program to PRES during the 2014-2015 school year and it was a huge success. We were not able to continue last school year but would love to bring the program back to PRES if we can find volunteers to run the program. The majority of this work can be done from home, especially once a routine has been established for the school year. For more information on the program go to http://www.fathers.com/watchdogs/.
