Reflections

Reflections is an arts program that encourages children to explore their talents and express themselves. Students reflect on a specific theme and create original artwork via dance, film, literature, music, photography or visual arts.

2017-2018 Theme: "Within Reach"

Who: Students of all grades (Pre K-Grade 5) and all abilities may participate.

What: Reflections® is the National PTA's cornerstone arts program. Each year, students are recognized for bringing the theme to life in six categories:

  1. Dance choreography
  2. Film production
  3. Literature
  4. Musical composition
  5. Photography
  6. Visual arts

How: Choose one or more from the 6 categories and create an original piece of artwork based on the theme "Within Reach." For general guidelines/rules for each category click here.

Where: Submit your art work with the student entry form in the collection box located in front office. Entry forms available for download here or outside the cafeteria near the display board.

When: The deadline to submit entries is November 10, 2017.

Why: The program encourages artistic creativity in the classroom and at home. Students can explore their talents and express themselves creatively.

Awards: All participants will receive recognition. The top winning entries in each category and age group (PreK-Grade 2 and Grades 3-5) will advance to the next level of competition. Competition levels include local, regional, state, and national.

As always, VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED to make this program a success. If you are interested in volunteering or need more information please contact Tarang Agarwal or Sharada Reddy.

You can also help select a future Reflections theme! One exceptional theme will be chosen
on February 1, 2018 to inspire creativity for the 2019-2020 PTA Reflections program. The
winner will receive $100 and recognition at the Annual National PTA Convention.
All PRES students are eligible to enter. Download the form here. The deadline to submit entries is October 30, 2017.
