Giving back to the community provides valued benefits to those in need, and valuable lessons to our students. Whether it's adopting a family during the holidays or visiting seniors at Harmony Hall, the PTA's Community Service Committee gives PRES students and families’ opportunities to fulfill the needs of people in our own community.
Food on the 15th
An award winning community service project that delivers groceries free of charge to economically challenged seniors in Howard County and teaches children about philanthropy. At PRES, our 5th grade teachers and students have successfully led our monthly food collections as their community service project for the past four years and we are fortunate to have their support again this school year. This program will again operate jointly with Clarksville Middle School for the 2010-2011 school year. And Food on the 15th is growing! More residents have asked to receive groceries and students at both River Hill High School and Atholton High School are now participating in the program as well. Pop Top Collection
These pull tabs on cans (soda, soup, etc) benefit families of the Ronald McDonald House. RMD house recycles them for money, which goes to help the children and families that stay there. This is an easy way to help another child or family going through an illness. Please keep these separate from the Box Tops, if possible.
Coat Drive
The PTACHC (PTA Council of Howard County) Coat Drive completed it's annual drive on November 1st. Pointers families donated more than 40 coats, 25 hats and a number of mittens, gloves and scarves. Thank you PRES families!
Book Drive
The PRES Book drive is on! Jan. 18th - Feb. 4th. We will accept any book for donation. The books can be dropped into the marked box in the lobby, or in the marked box in the pod. Donations benefit Baltimore Reads. For more information, or if you have a large number of books to donate, contact
